Our main partner for the 2021 FREI(T)RÄUME/ ENVISIONING FREE SPACE CONFERENCE is Actors of Urban Change (Actors), a program by MitOst e.V. supported by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Actors of Urban Change is a community-driven, international good-practice network promoting sustainable urban development based on a culture of co-creation as a driving force for positive change. Actors will join FREI(T)RÄUME to help us explore how to achieve a greener, fairer society for all by empowering civil society, leveraging the power of self-organisation and citizen initiatives. Having supported hundreds of urban changemakers across Europe, Actors brings a wealth of experience in facilitating international exchange and translocal collaborations. With nearly 1,500 members in 49 countries, MitOst e.V. cooperates closely with the Bosch Alumni Network and its more than 10,000 members, promoting cross-sectoral dissemination in topics such as sustainable living spaces, diversity and inclusion in the cultural sector, active citizenship, social innovation and more.

The successful donation campaign for Berlin clubs grew into a global cultural platform and streaming initiative in the digital space. With its large network of over 114 cities and more than 2,500 artists, United We Stream has a broad range of audiences worldwide through various, cross-genre cultural formats, from changing cultural locations. The interdisciplinary music and content streams offer low-threshold, open source access to connect local cultural spaces, artists, cultural workers, companies and institutions with the global audience.
There is no approach that breaks barriers, connects across cultural differences, and engages our shared values more than arts and culture. By breaking and challenging social norms through more provocative, more thought-provoking approaches to art we get the chance to key more into the issues that really matter today. The ecological and political challenges, economic constraints, competing interests, priority gaps, and complexities are all real and significant challenges. Solutions to our most critical problems are not to be found in institutional hierarchy or traditional policy and enforcement models, but rather in collective action, dispersed innovation, and shared responsibility.
Together we faced the current crisis and advocated club cultural values in the context of digital cultural mediation - now it's time to form new alliances and with them develop a better future.
